Virginia Tech's root Windows 2000 domain, Hokies , went live on July 10, 2000. It was then upgraded to Windows 2003 on November 18th, 2005. Hokies is the root of Virginia Tech's Active Directory (AD) directory service and is ready to bring child domains from departments within the university into the AD.

To learn more about our own migration from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows 2000, read notes from presentation at SANS 2000 (requires Acrobat Reader).
